September meeting

The meeting on September was called to order by Brother Jim Fore Senior Warden. The Master had a son playing football and had to be at that as we all would. Brother Jim did a very good job but we did not expect less from him Jim is a dedicated Mason. Most of the meeting was taken up with discussing Grand Lodge and Lodge business. Grand lodge was held on September 23 & 24 at Raleigh, NC. Grand Master Pervier conducted a great meeting and I was impressed. Grand Master Pervier is one of the best orators that I have heard. I got to hear him speak several times and each one was great

Our first recipient of the Sonoma scholarship Miranda Lanning will receive it for the 2nd semester. Miranda is attending Haywood Community College.

SOMETHING NEW THIS WAY COMES

There is something new coming to the 40th Masonic District. I can not tell you what it is because I will get hurt if I do. Those Newman boys from Glenville are a mean bunch. No really it is a surprise, something new to get more visitations between the Lodges. Be at Sonoma October 6 and see it for yourself because it will go to Waynesville Lodge on the 7th. It will not surprise me if it leaves Waynesville pretty quick.

The Sterling Melton traveling gavel is still in Glenville, I have been told that it has been there so long that Worshipful Brother 4 the Master has already taken a cutting off of it and is in the process of growing his own gavel. I hope to break up this monopoly and go and rescue the gavel. If any Lodge thinks they can get it they had better bring a crowd. I know that there are not enough in East LaPorte or Dillsboro to get it. That is a dare if you could not tell to Ron Stephens and Gary Todt.

I can send it as an attachment or as an e-mail so everyone should be able to get it one way or the other. I could probably send it other ways if I knew how.
