May Meeting
Brothers I want to let you know that I am sorry that I did not get the news letter out last month. I was having computer problems again and everything seems to be working now so here goes. I will start with the May meeting. · Steve Brown was our guest for the evening. Steve is with the Haywood County School Foundation. He spoke to us before opening the Lodge about the Foundation and the Sonoma Lodge Scholarship Fund. In the last newsletter I said that we were not taking donations for the fund. I MESSED UP.. We are taking donations for the Scholarship Fund. If you would like to make a donation you can give it to me or the Secretary. · We have a new member Bro. Leroy Bozarth. Brother Bozarth transferred to Sonoma from East Gate lodge #692. I hope that Brother Leroy will be at the Lodge in July so I can meet him. Come on to the Lodge on the 7th to welcome Brother Leroy if you have not met him. · I saved the best for last. Brother L.A. Cogburn was presented his 50 Year Veterans Certificate and pin by PGM Charles E. Cathey Sr. Brother Cogburns wife and other guest were present for the presentation.
June Meeting
We had a real special guest at the June meeting, Brother Jim Griffin, Principal of Central Haywood High School. Brother Jim has been made Director of Auxiliary Services for Haywood County Schools. Central Haywood High School is the number one alternative High School in North Carolina. Through Brother Griffin’s program we got a little insight to an alternative school in North Carolina. Brother Griffin’s “watch words” are Faith, Hope and Charity as well as “Little Things Mean A Lot”
July Meeting
Brothers we all need to be at the July meeting W* Brother Ora Burnette will receive his 50 year veteran’s certificate. Brother Ora at the time he was Master was the oldest Master in NC. Brother Carroll Stockton will get Brother Ora and bring him to the Lodge. Brothers come on out and support Brother Ora. The Master will probably have a program but being the reporter I am I have no idea what it is. This is probably Gene Canters fault. Remember Brothers the Eastern Star will have a great meal at 6:30 so come on out and eat and attend the meeting. I will continue to say this if you need a ride CALL us we will get you a ride all of our numbers are listed I even have 2 listed SO PLEASE CALL.
Sonoma Chapter #254 The Eastern Star is having a raffle. The prize is a hand made quilt. There are a few tickets left and I will have some at the meeting. They are $1 each or 6 for $5. See me I will be glad to sell you a ticket.
