January Meeting
Brothers if you were not at the January meeting you missed a real treat. The new officers that you elected this year did a really great job of opening and conducting the meeting. You would have thought that they had been together for a while. The program was presented by Worshipful Brother C.H. Morrow the immediate Past Master. The program was on Lodge courtesy Brother Clarence was assisted by Brother Phil Cruise. Brother Charles Bolden has just become the 7th Lifetime Endowed member of Sonoma Lodge. Brothers this is great that this many Brothers are helping our Lodge in this manner. By doing this they will be helping our Lodge long after they have gone on to their Great Reward. If you would like to become an endowed member get in touch with the secretary. Speaking of getting in touch with the secretary he has a new address thus the Lodge has a new address also. It is:
Sonoma Lodge #472 c/o Hugh K. Terrell Jr 151 Pas Fini Lane Canton, NC 28716
Be sure and change your record to show this as the Lodge address
Calvin E. Taylor Toy Ride
On January 5th Gene Canter and I took Anne and Pat Taylor to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford NC to present the 2004 Check. This was Anne and Pats first visit to the home and they seemed to like what was being done with the moneys raised in memory of their Son and Brother. They presented the check to Doug McConnell Administrator and Chris Richardson of the home. Brothers the 40th Masonic district has a lot to be proud of with this ride. This has brought the district closer together and kept alive the memory of a Brother that left us way too soon. In the 4 years we have had the ride we have raised: 2001……$1468.28 2002…..$6396.31 2003….7761.72 2004….$6026.41 for a total of $21,652.72 in 4 years. Brothers this is something that we all can be proud of. If we all work a little harder as a group and not expect the other person to do our part we can keep on going up each year instead of back. 2004 was a real difficult year because the ride was in between the 2 floods. The ride for 2005 we will have a Grandfather clock to raffle off. If each member of the 40th district just sold 10 tickets we would nearly double the number of tickets sold. We will start selling the tickets in June we will have a sale at Wal-Mart in Clyde to start the sell. Keep a look in the newsletter I will have all the information in the next few letters.
Eastern Star
Brothers we now have new tables in the fellowship hall. These tables were donated by Schmidty & Mary Schmidt. We are in the process of replacing the chairs also. The Lodge or Eastern Star neither one have the money to do this, so we are taking donations to buy the chairs. For $20 you can purchase a chair in memory of or to honor someone. If you would like to donate $20 for a chair or even more than one get in touch with Gene Canter at home 648-2135 or cell 734-3439 or take it by his house on Hwy. 110. His mailing address is: Gene Canter 4476 Pisgah Drive Canton, NC 28716 There will be a engraved metal plate attached to the back with your name and dedication on it. Please make your check out to Gene Canter as we have to pay cash for the chairs. POOR MANS SUPPER The Ladies of the Eastern Star will have a poor mans supper on April 9th to help buy the chairs. PLEASE plan on attending the meal to help the Ladies out with this project.
