SONOMA LODGE # 472 A.F.&A.M. CANTON, NC
Sonoma SummaryAugust 2005
SONOMA LODGE # 472 MEETS ON THE FIRST THURSDAY OF EVERY MONTH AT 7:30 P.M. DINNER IS OFFERED BY O.E.S. AT 6:30 P.M. ($6.00)
July Meeting
Brother Ora Burnette was our guest of honor at the July meeting. Brother Ora was presented his 50 year certificate and pin. I personally think that it was the rest of us in attendance that were honored to have Worshipful Brother Ora with us. I personally have always been honored to know Brother Ora. Our Master Bentley Rogers presented Ora with his Certificate. Brother Ora is a veteran of WW2 and is now living in Silver Bluff Nursing Home. Since the meeting Brother Ora had to spend some time in the Hospital but is now back at Silver Bluff. Brothers if you can go by and visit with Brother Ora he would appreciate it. Brothers a request for donations to the homes have been or will be shortly mailed out. These are mailed out from the print shop at Oxford and are sent to everyone. If you have already made your donation please disregard the notice as your donation has already been entered into the books. If you have not made a donation PLEASE take this opportunity to give. There was a motion made and passed to get a plaque to honor all of our 50 year members. This will be placed in a place of honor in the Lodge. Brothers Gene Canter and Geoff Cooper are taking care of this matter. Brothers the dues for 2005 are now due and need to be sent to the secretary as soon as possible. Brothers the scholarship fund has been started and will be in operation for the 2006 School year we hope. Brothers we are going to try to present a scholarship to a student this fall that is attending Haywood Community College. We still need some more donations for this to happen if you can please send a donation to the secretary marked for the scholarship fund. You would be helping a student from the Bethel area continue their Education.
Calvin E. Taylor Toy Ride
Brothers it is only a month till the toy ride. We still have a long ways to go selling the raffle tickets for this to be a success. Surely you will be able to sell 10 tickets to your family and friends this would be a big help if you could. We are giving away a Grandfather Clock this year and it is really nice. If you can do this get in touch with Gene Canter at 648-2135 or on his cell at 734-3439 or just drop by his house he lives across from the entrance to Silver Bluff. Make him fix you a cup of coffee then get some tickets.
2005 Annual Communication
Brothers it is about a month and a half till Grand Lodge. We will be discussing the upcoming proposed amendments to the code. It is important to be at the next two meetings if you want to make your views known. We would like to have you there at every meeting but these are really important. Please try and make the meetings, if you need a ride or any help at all please get in touch with one of the officers and we will try and help. I am easy I have 2 numbers listed BUT in case I am back in the mill leave a message I will call back.
