On The Evening
Of March 6th, 1884, Seven Master Masons Holding Demits
From Waynesville Lodge # 259, AF&AM, Waynesville, North Carolina Met
On The Second Floor Of Williams Jackson Hampton’s Building On The
Main Street Of Pigeon River NC, Later Canton NC For The Purpose Of
Forming A Masonic Lodge, Which They Named Pigeon River For The
Beautiful Stream Flowing Through The Village. The Grand Lodge Of
North Carolina Had Granted A Dispensation Dated January 18, 1884.
These Brethren Were Joseph Nelson Mease, Recommended For Worshipful
Master, R.E.R Osborne For Senior Warden And John M Curtis For Junior
Warden. Others Were William Jackson Hampton, Dr. J. Medford Mease,
and George L. Reno. |
